Central sector scheme of scholarship


Overview
The Ministry of Human Resources Development, Department of Higher Education, Government of India has introduced this new scholarship in 2008 to provide financial assistance to meritorious students from low-income families to meet day-to-day expenses while pursuing higher studies. Total 82000 fresh scholarships per annum (41000 for boys and 41000 for girls) will be awarded for graduate / postgraduate studies in colleges and universities and for professional courses such as Medical, Engineering etc. The total number of scholarships will be divided amongst the State Boards based on the State’s population in the age group of 18-25 years, after segregating share of CBSE and ICSE on the basis of number of students passing out from various Boards in the country. The number of scholarships allotted to a Board would be distributed amongst pass outs of the Science, Commerce and Humanities streams of the Board in the ratio of 3:2:1. Within the specified quota, the selection shall be made on merit. The reservation would be applicable in terms of Central Reservation Policy
  Eligibility:

  • The student should have scored a minimum 80% of marks in Class XII of 10+2 pattern or equivalent.
  • The student should belong to non-creamy layer as specified by GOI.
  • Should not have any other scholarship scheme.
  • The Undergraduate/Postgraduate/Professional courses are pursued in a recognized college/ institution in India.
  • The scholarship once awarded will continue and it will be renewed from year to year till the completion of the course for which the award has been made. A fresh income certificate each year will not be called for provided the scholar fulfils all other terms and conditions stipulated for the renewal.
Nature of Scholarship:

  • The scholarship will be given @ Rs.1000/- per month at Graduation level for first three years of College and University courses and Rs.2000/-per month at Post graduation level.
  • Students pursuing professional courses would get Rs.2000/- per month in the 4th & 5th year.
  • The scholarship would be paid for 10 months in an academic year.
Renewal of Scholarships:
A scholarship under the scheme is renewable from year to year within the same stage of education. The renewal will depend on promotion to the next class provided the scholar secures 60% or more marks in aggregate in the semester/annual examination which determines his promotion to the next class. It will also be subject to discipline and maintenance of attendance by the scholar. Complaints against these scholars regarding indiscipline including any complaints of having indulged in ragging would lead to forfeiture of scholarship.
Payment of Scholarship:
Scholarship will be paid to the selected students directly by the Central Government through a Bank Account opened by them for the purpose in a designated Bank. Based on the eligibility certificate presented by the awardees, the designate bank(s) shall open account for all such merit scholars and ensure timely credit and maintain a proper database of the account numbers of the students receiving the scholarship.

  • Income Certificate
  • Caste certificate in case of reservation
  • Joining Report from the Head of the institution where he has joined UG course

Free education scheme

Overview
First generation undergraduates in Tamil Nadu, irrespective of their caste or income, will not have to pay tuition fees from the coming academic year. The Tamil Nadu Governor Hon. Dr.Surjit Singh Barnala made this announcement in the State Assembly on Wednesday, 6th January 2010. The families that have never had a graduate in the family can take benefit of the above scheme. The State Government will bear the entire tuition fee of such students who secure admission to professional courses under the Single Window System. Students studying in government and private engineering, medical, dental, agricultural, veterinary, and law colleges, irrespective of their caste or income will benefit from the scheme.
Eligibility:
Free Education Scheme is applicable to BC, MBC & DNC students studying in

  • 3 Year Arts/Science Degree courses (B.A., B.Sc., B.Com, etc.,)
  • 3 Year Polytechnic Diploma Courses
  • Professional Degree courses (Medical, Engineering, Agriculture, Veterinary, Law, Indian Medicine etc., - For under graduate only
For BCs / MBCs/DNCs:

  • Parental annual income should not exceed Rs.50,000/- p.a.
  • Students should be first graduate in the family.
For MBCs & DNCs

  • No conditions in so far as the 3 year Degree Courses only (Viz BA, B.Sc., B.Com etc),
  • • 3 year Polytechnic Diploma Course and Professional Degree Courses like Medical, Agricultural, Veterinary, Law, Indian Medicine etc., conditions applicable to BC also applicable to MBC/DNC.
Nature of Scholarship:
Tuition fees, Special fees, Examination fees and Other Compulsory fees payable by the students to the institutions at the rate fixed by respective Departments are reimbursed to the students.The fees structure charged in Government Colleges alone will be sanctioned irrespective of the rates charged by other private Colleges.

The approximate amount totally sanctioned to the students under free education schemes for various courses are indicated above for the general guidance of the students.
Hostellers:
For the BC / MBC /DNC students staying in hostels attached to Educational Institutions & private approved hostels, in addition to the regular Postmatric / Free Education amounts, the following Boarding & Lodging charges are also sanctioned and disbursed along with the scholarship amount.
The students staying in Hostels attached to the Institutions are eligible for sanction of Boarding & Lodging charges at the following rates.

How to apply?
Scholarship application Forms are centrally printed and supplied to the Educational Institutions by the District Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Officers in the districts. The eligible BC/MBC/DNC students can therefore easily obtain the Scholarship forms free of cost and resubmit the filled in application forms directly to the Heads of Educational Institutions.

However specimen copy of the Scholarship application forms is also made available here, which can be used by the general public/students, in case of any difficulty in securing the printed scholarship applications from the Educational Institutions. Students are generally advised to apply for scholarships in the printed scholarship forms.

Step 1: 

To Apply For The GATE 2013 Examination, The particular Candidates Must Register On The Official Website.

First, Go To This Website Address And Then Register With Your Email Address. https://gateapp.iitb.ac.in/GATE/register

Step 2:

Applicants with an Yahoo! email address may have a problem during registration in the online application website.

They may not see the mails in their INBOX. They must use alternate email addresses. All users already registered should follow these instructions to ensure receipt of future emails.

Activation Mail will be send to your Registered Email Id. Now you have to check you Email. Open the Mail and Click the Activation Link and Activate the account. now you will be asked to set Password.

Doctoral, Post Doctoral Fellowships Programme-2012

Central Institute of Classical Tamil, Chennai has invited applications from eligible candidates to award Doctoral and Post-Doctoral Fellowships of year 2012-13

The Doctoral Fellowship includes Rs 12,000/- per month for 2 years with a contingency grant of Rs 12,000/- per annum

The Postdoctoral Fellowship includes award of Rs 18,000/- per month for 2 years with a contingency grant of Rs 30,000/- per annum

Eligibility

Doctoral Fellowships: Postgraduate degree holders with not less than 55 marks in Literature, Linguistics, or allied disciplines such as Anthropology, Sociology, Education, Archaeology, Epigraphy, Musicology, Performing Arts, Folklore, Philosophy, etc are eligible to apply

Candidates belonging to SC/ST category will be given relaxation of 5 marks

Candidate should have registered for Ph.D in any recognized University or Institute

Age: Candidate should not have exceeded 30 years of age as on 16th August, 2012

Age relaxation will be allowed for OBC candidates 3 years and SC/ST candidates 5 years

In addition to this, age relaxation will also be provided to the candidates having research experience, limited to the period spent on research in the relevant/related subject of post graduation degree, subject to a maximum of 5 years, on production of a certificate from appropriate authority

Post Doctoral Fellowships: Ph.D degree holders in Literature, Linguistics, or allied disciplines such as Anthropology, Sociology, Education, Archaeology, Epigraphy, Musicology, Performing Arts, Folklore, Philosophy, etc are eligible to apply

Preference will be given to those who are working on inter disciplinary topics, Comparative Dravidian, Language Typology and Translation with special emphasis to the classical period

Age: The candidate should not have exceeded 40 years of age as on 16th August, 2012

Age relaxation will be allowed for OBC candidates 3 years and SC/ST candidates 5 years

Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC 2012-13

Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC students from class 1st to class 10th for 2012-13

Govt of National Capital Territory of Delhi, Dept for the welfare of SC/ST/OBC/Minority, invites applications from eligible students of National Capital Territory of Delhi, belonging to OBC notified by the Central/State Govt pursuing education from Class 1st to 10th in Govt/ Aided Schools/ Institute or Private School/Institute recognized by approved authority, public schools affiliated to Directorate of Education/ Kendriya Vidyalaya/ National Open School/Schools affiliated to NDMC/Municipal Corporation of Delhi/Delhi Cantonment Board for awarding Pre-Metric scholarship

The scheme is specially meant for Other Backward Classes having domicile of NCT of Delhi

Eligibility: Scholarship will be granted in the case of students whose Parents/Guardians annual income from all sources does not exceed Rs 44,500/- (Rs forty four thousand and five hundred only)

Scholarship: Amount of scholarship will be credited to the students personal bank account
Students claiming benefits under the scheme shall not be allowed to get benefits under any other pre-metric scholarship scheme

The students may not be allowed to take up employment of under help to parents in their work during the course of studies
The scholarship will be discontinued if a student fails to secure annual promotion except in case of unavoidable reasons to be certified by the competent authority of the scheme

If a student violates school discipline or any other terms and conditions of the scholarship, scholar may be suspended or even cancelled subject to satisfaction of the competent school authority

Migration of students from one institution to another would not normally be allowed during the course of academic year except under exceptional circumstances and in the interest of students academic career

The students should be regular in attendance for which the yardstick shall be decided by the competent authority of the school

Scholarship Amount: I to V Rs 750/- (Rs 250/- for days scholar for 10 months + Rs 500/-)
